Jewels have a color, type, and level. The level corresponds to the amount of stat bonus it gives.
The additional effect of a jewel depends on its type, and is unaffected by its level.
Once refined from a material, further refining produces jewels one level higher than the base.
Mary's support talent also increases the jewels' level, without changing the color.
Furthermore, the amount of jewels in your possession is limited to 200 at any given time.

Required amount of Lens for refining
To refine a +1 jewel from a raw material, 50 lens is needed.
Afterwards, red, blue, yellow and green jewels need 200 lens in total, whereas purple, orange, white and black jewels only need 120. (More advanced types of lens are needed for higher level jewels)

If you equip both Demons and Edge at the same time, almost every unguarded hit will cause instant death.
However, if you have high evasion, and the hit rate of the enemy is extremely low, (同一戦闘内でずっと戦っていて敵の命中が落ちた場合) you can survive a hit. If you equip two Demons or Edge jewels, their effects do not stack.
Narikiri
Learning new techs is based on the level of the original character. For example, you do not gain techs any faster if you equip a Narikiri Lion + Demons.
You can acquire the tech if the party level exceeds the requirements.
